A list of random things that are made of happy batter. I will now share!
- An old friend of Dad's from Estonia is visiting with his five-year-old son. I can't make out two words of what the boy is saying, but just watching him zoom around the house is amusing. He sings to himself, constantly. The other day he was singing this children's song called Mustan kissan tango, but in Estonian. So "mustan kissan tango" (tango of the black cat) was "musta kassi tanko", which to a Finnish ear sounded like "black bag pole". ... No, seriously, you would've thought it was funny too if you'd been there. And spoke Finnish.
(Random googling tells me that the song is either originally italian and sounds like this Volevo un gatto nero, or originally... uhm... japanese. Which is just... lolwhut?)
-
nirith is coming to visit on Sunday. Hooray! We will grumble about our respective summers, and then squee about the zombie apocalypse survival game we get to pick up come September.
- The family has decided that we all need a holiday, and the consensus seems to be that we're going to Edinburgh and that we're going in October.
- It seems like I'm going to have work until the 11th.
- I AM GOING TO ITALY IN TWO WEEKS. Me and
lillannan are going to visit
falena and not let her sleep cure her jetlag with our sparkling personalities, and then go spend a few days with Team Italy (a.k.a Eva & Andrea & their pets).
- Google docs is the best thing since sliced bread.
- They actually sell low-carb bread at a store in Porvoo.
- Mom's friend Leea is back from Africa, and we're going to go see her art show in Helsinki tomorrow, and I'll get to speak French because a lot of the people there will be from Benin.

Date: 2011-08-09 04:38 pm (UTC)bunchfew years ago, and I got to spend a month of so in the city. Absolutely memorable. I can't wait for the chance to go back. Even if it will be in October and it'll rain constantly and... ah well. At least it should be fairly low on tourists at that point.
