Today was interesting.

Our university had a visit from the princess of Sweden. There were security people everywhere, and half the doors were locked, and the whole campus was buzzing!

People think they're so cool about stuff nowadays - but when it comes right down to it, you can't not be excited when there's going to be a real live princess at your school. Every single conversation I overheard today had to do with the royal visit, didn't matter if they were students or staff. The atmosphere was childishly excited, in a good way.

I had to stay focused on 17th century French literature and not leave the library, so all I got to actually see of the princess was the crowd milling about excitedly while waiting for her entrance, but that was good enough. It felt delightfully medieval somehow. My friends that did see her said she was very pretty and princess-like.

Exactly! Sometimes I wish we hadn't got rid of our royal family. I mean, they were proper twats (still are, if you google them) but I just like the idea of it, you know?

Speaking of royal families, have you had a chance to start listening to The Student Prince, one of the podfic I gave you? Or perhaps any of the others? I'm dying to know what you think of them.

What you mean doesn't play well with democracy and equality. Real royalties are there. A lot of them.
