This week has really not gone as planned.

Tuesday I spent at the Zoo in Helsinki with cousin's kid Säde (who thought the cockroaches in the bug house were the coolest thing she'd ever seen, and insisted we go back three times. My camera has 100+ macro pictures of cockroaches.) All in all it was a good day, even if I forgot to wear sunscreen - despite carrying it around all day to make sure Säde didn't burn - and now my face is rocking the panda-bear look thanks to burnt cheeks and pale skin from where I wore my sunglasses. Awesome.

Wednesday morning I felt a little iffy, but decided I'd shrug it off, and went to work. I made it as far one o'clock, and my boss sent me home on account of me being a shivering, sunburnt mess. Turns out, I'd caught some sort of flu bug. Spent the rest of Wednesday at home with a fever, staring out the window and thinking about how much money I was losing every hour.

I had to call in sick today as well, but it's starting to look like maybe I could go in tomorrow. For the last day of the contract. >.< Since when has it been possible to catch a freaking cold in freaking July?

Though, okay, a teeny tiny part that I will only mention to you, my dearest online friends, is not 100% sorry about this. A really small part, okay?

I've not actually been sick while in my parents' house for, give or take, six years. I have the usual few colds per year, but I almost always have them when I'm in Turku, since I'm not really here aside from the odd week during Christmas or summer.

Whenever I am sick, I spend my time curled up on the couch, drinking tea, watching TV and missing my mommy like the big baby that I am. And now I don't have to :P Because my mommy is here, and she coddles me and strokes my hair and says "voi mamman kultaa" and I can snuggle into my pillow and go "yes, poor, poor me". And dad says "voi tyttäreni" (which might make you think I'm lying, because no one actually says stuff like that, but no, seriously, my dad does. He says stuff like that.) and touches my forehead and pretends that he burnt his hand. Same routine he's pulled since I was a baby. It's... nice, to get to be a kid for a little bit, and not have anyone expect anything of you.

Anyway, I've decide I want to be well again starting tomorrow. Partially because I really do want to get in one last day at work, and because tomorrow marks the start of Ropecon in Espoo. It's a roleplaying convention I've been going to yearly for almost a decade, give or take a few years, and I'd hate to miss it. Old, good friends like [livejournal.com profile] nahkasiipi and [livejournal.com profile] arkangeli will be there, and we have a proud tradition of spending three days wasting time on the lawn outside, with varying amounts of beer and cookies. And people have rock-paper-scissors tournaments, and they do re-enactments of Final Fantasy fights and they hit each other with bofferit and it's so much fun and I just will not spend my weekend being sick when I could be at Ropecon!

- Poor Tommy! Why does no one care about Tommy? I mean, yeah, he's an ass... but poor, poor Tommy! --- Would it be very wrong to ship Sam/Tommy? Because I could, totally. SPN fandom has probably broken me beyond repair.

- Why have they insisted on dressing Alexander Skarsgård in a stupid blue hoodie for most almost three episodes now? It is not flattering. Seriously. I do appreciate all the time he spends with the hoodie off, of course. And the "krokkoodiiiiileeeeer!" part was giggle-worthy. But I'm looking forward to getting proper Erik back.

- Tara looks awesome. And yay for girlfriend! And the scene where her new life gets introduced? It was pretty. And cool. And that's why I watch True Blood - for the pretty and the cool (and the campy).

- The Jason storyline really doesn't seem all that interesting, even if I do enjoy listening to the way the panther-people talk. The last dream sequence he had was truly weird. Please tell me there'll be more? And please, won't someone write a Jason/Hoyt PWP just for my entertainment? True Blood always does this. I get the urge to read fic - but always very specific fic, and so far I've never gotten what I wanted. AO3 did not help :(

- Creepy doll is creepy. It's Hoyt's mom doing something, isn't it?

- Alcide is pretty. He needs to be on screen more. Doesn't need to talk, he just needs to stand there and go "look at me, I'm wearing this shirt and I'm really quite tall". Oh! SPN xover possibility! Then they could all stand around and be tall!

Anyway, all in all? Very happy with the new season so far.

I've caught a cold twice this summer!

I blame it on two things a) the weather being rather shitty and cold this year b) old age getting to my immuno-defenses.

Feel better soon!

Usual few colds per year? I usually have exactly one... I thought it's a lot.

I caught a cold in July once. Don't remember the details, but I just was stupid.

Get well soon!
