The protest was creepily organized this year, which was not at all nice. A few years back, the whole thing was almost funny. The Presidential Palace was under construction that year, so the reception was held in a different city and in a different location. The excitement of it caused a fair bit of, not exactly rioting, but general restlessness. Some stuff was smashed, some people were yelling.
The next day, reporters were standing outside the jail and interviewed the people who had been picked up the day before for having been involved. And their replies were amazing. "Uh, nah. I wasn't protesting anything in particular... like. My friend called and said they're smashing stuff, so I thought I'd go smash some stuff, and like.. yeah."
