That was fascinating, thank you. (Apart from that I want meatballs now, despite having a nice dinner in front of me.) Coming from a country that has a remarkable amount of nationalism and national myths, but no national day (England, or the UK, either way - Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their traditional days which are more actively pursued), this is such a different pattern to something like 14 juillet or 4 July, Tag der Deutschen Einheit, come to that. Good to broaden my mind!
