When I was doing my independent study in my thrid year I basically had to pick and choose which of the part of the course I did because there was just so much and a presentation was one of the things I didn't get around to doing. It was only a small part of the final grade and it was supposed to have been a presentation on a report we had to do. My report was handed in late and assignments for another module weren't as good as they would have been had it not been for the independant study (which was worth more than the assignments which I had to cut back work on anyway). Things like this do happen.
